Secretariat calls for clear roadmap for day-ahead electricity market launch in Georgia

31 August 2022

The Energy Community Secretariat expresses concern over the further postponement of the day-ahead, balancing and ancillary services markets establishment in Georgia.

With the adoption of yesterday’s decision by the Government of Georgia, the launch of the organized power market, which was already moved two times, is postponed to 31 March 2023. In order to avoid additional delays and bring more predictability to the process, the Secretariat calls for the adoption of a roadmap setting out a clear timetable for the approval of by-laws and finalization of activities for electricity market opening. The Secretariat stands ready to assist Georgia in the timely preparation of each of the remaining tasks.
