Eternal Summer - Energy Community Summer School 2020 - 2021

After thorough considerations and a close monitoring of the travel restrictions during the past weeks, we informed on 4 June 2020 all participants and speakers about our decision to postpone the 2020 Summer School to next year.

We made all possible efforts to maintain the Summer School project despite the ongoing crisis. But the degree of uncertainty, the health risks it could represent and the measures put in place across Europe since the beginning of the pandemic, and particularly affecting our contracting parties, have make the organisation of this year project too high a risk.

As of 4 June 2020, we are still lacking a perspective when it comes to the future evolutions of travel restrictions, to wait longer would undermine our capabilities to deliver a Summer School of highest quality at very short notice. To maintain the project could also represent a risk, for the health of participants and speakers when organizing it. Access to Austria remains highly restricted. Even if access is now guaranteed for a growing number of neighbouring states, citizens from non-EU/EEA countries are still prohibited entry into Austria. Finally there remains the risk of a second wave of the pandemic.

Given the high degree and nature of these uncertainties and the health and logistic risks associated, that convinced us to take the hard but ultimately inevitable decision to cancel our Summer School 2020.

This decision does not influence the participant’s selection (40) and we will guarantee (to each of them) a place in the next Energy Community Summer School edition which will be taking place in Telč of the Czech Republic on 21-28 August 2021 (tbc).
