Secretariat delivers transformers to restore reliable electricity supply in Ukraine

The Ukraine Energy Support Fund, managed by the Energy Community Secretariat, is proud to announce the successful delivery of 12 transformers to a Ukrainian electricity distribution system operator, thanks to the donor, the Danish Energy Agency. This milestone is not only significant for Ukraine's energy sector but also for the citizens who rely on it. Due to the ongoing war, many Ukrainians have been experiencing unreliable electricity supply, which has negatively affected critical infrastructure, public services, transportation, households, and businesses.

By facilitating the repair of damaged energy networks and restoring energy service provision, the Secretariat and its donors are making a positive impact on the lives of Ukrainians. The successful delivery of the transformers is a crucial step towards reinstating reliable electricity supply to those who need it the most.

The Energy Community Secretariat expresses deep appreciation to all donors who have shown confidence in its work. Currently, the Fund is procuring over EUR 100 million worth of items, including transformers, disconnectors, welding units, concrete pillars, clamps, hooks, bandages, wires, and pumps, all of which will have a significant impact on the lives of Ukrainians affected by the war.

As manager of the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, the Energy Community Secretariat cooperates with the Ukrainian Ministry of Energy in identifying needs and verifying the requests for support, monitors the procurement process, acts as the fiduciary of the grants, and ensures that funds are used in strict accordance with the provisions of the agreements and subject to strict accounting, reporting, and auditing rules. With a number of safeguards in place to ensure the funds are used effectively and transparently, the Energy Community Secretariat's central role is essential to making a meaningful impact on Ukraine's energy sector.
