CBAM declarants may report actual values of embedded greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for electricity imported into the European Union from Contracting Parties, provided that the applicable conditions for the use of actual values are met and their fulfilment is verified by an accredited verifier. This possibility is particularly important for facilitating the unhindered trade and further development of electricity generated from renewable energy sources.

Verifiers for CBAM activities, including electricity imports, are accredited by the national accreditation bodies of EU Member States.

To support compliance with the requirements governing the use of actual emission values, the Secretariat provides below a list of verifiers accredited for the CBAM activity of “electricity imported into the customs territory of the Union”.
