Albania

The PECI label provides access to funding opportunities through instruments such as IPA III, NDICI – Global Europe, WBIF, NIP, EFSD & EFSD+, and the Ukraine Facility. While each instrument has strict eligibility criteria, the PECI label significantly enhances the value and credibility of any project that meets the requirements. The Secretariat plays a key role in assisting selected project promoters by guiding them through the application process and working with the European Commission and International Financial Institutions (IFIs) to secure funding for PECI projects.

Albania benefits from this support with two key projects: E06, which involves the reconfiguration of the 400 kV grid and a new 400 kV interconnection with Kosovo, and E07, which aims to close the 400 kV internal ring, thereby strengthening the country’s energy infrastructure.
 

The Albanian municipality of Korça participates in the Clean Air Regions Initiative (CARI), joining other municipalities to develop tailored Local Air Quality Action Plans, set ambitious targets, and contribute to cleaner air. Members benefit from sharing experiences and learning from others through CARI’s events, strengthening their impact and access to valuable resources.
 

Together with all Contracting Parties, Albania receives support from the Secretariat through the ongoing study on energy efficiency and energy poverty, focusing on improving building energy efficiency to combat energy poverty and strengthen national institutions.
