Ahead of the Energy Ramstein Ministerial meeting: Ukraine Energy Support Fund holds industries workshop on procurement opportunities
On 16 September at 9:30 AM CET, ahead of the Ministerial meeting of the G7+ Ukraine Energy Support Group / Energy Ramstein, the Energy Community Secretariat, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine and the Procurement Agent will jointly hold an online industry outreach workshop “Procurement opportunities for businesses under the Ukraine Energy Support Fund”. Suppliers, contributing country administration representatives, business and industry associations, along with policymakers are invited to attend and discover opportunities to deliver energy equipment to Ukraine.
Taking place one day before the Energy Ramstein Ministerial meeting, a procurement workshop, held as a webinar, will provide industry representatives and potential suppliers with an overview of procurement opportunities under the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.
It will provide suppliers with an opportunity to better understand the Fund's procurement framework, offering guidance on how companies can engage in procurement processes financed through the Fund and giving an overview of current and forthcoming demand. By strengthening engagement with the international supplier market, the event will facilitate transparent, competitive, and efficient procurement processes, helping translate Ukraine's priority energy needs into faster delivery of critical equipment that will directly support Ukraine's energy resilience.
Currently, approximately EUR 526 million worth of equipment is in various stages of procurement, out of which EUR 100 million worth of open procurement opportunities are in the bidding phase, with up to EUR 426 million worth of procurement in preparation.
Opportunities are accessible through the Fund's Procurement Platform, to be presented during the workshop by the Independent Procurement Agent representatives UTA-Sweco.
Procurements under the Fund cover a broad range of equipment and services required by the Ukrainian energy sector, including electrical equipment: transformers, switchgears, cables, and protection and control systems; grid and substation components: substation equipment, busbars, metal structures, and auxiliary systems; gas infrastructure: including turbine generators, gas compressor units, pipelines, and valves; power generation: including distributed generation solutions, power plant components, CHP units, auxiliary equipment, and control systems; district heating and thermal equipment: heat exchangers, boilers, pumps, valves, and control systems; safety and operational equipment: passive protection structures, personal protective structures and equipment, specialised tools, vehicles, and emergency response equipment; and directly associated services, such as, installation, commissioning, logistics, and after-sales support.
Working in full alignment with the energy sector priority needs as defined by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, the Fund channels contributions from governments, financial institutions, corporate donors, and charity organisations to support the repair and reinforce Ukraine’s damaged energy infrastructure and sustain power and heat supply amid wartime winter conditions.
To date, 39 donors have signed over EUR 2 billion grants, enabling the conclusion of approximately 1,500 supply contracts worth over EUR 1 billion. Deliveries valued at over EUR 785 million have reportedly reached over 75 companies of the energy sector across 23 regions of Ukraine.
