City Airport Train

With half an hour service intervals, the City Airport Train (CAT) transfers passenger from Wien Mitte to Vienna (Schwechat) Airport in 16 minutes, and vice versa. The CAT operates daily from 05:37 to 23:37. The price of a one-way ticket is 14,90 EUR. A return ticket costs 24,90 EUR (status 08/2026).

S-7 train

In comparison to the CAT, the municipal S-7 train offers a cheaper but somewhat lengthier alternative. The transfer time between Wien Mitte and the airport amounts to approx. 25 minutes. A one way ticket costs 5,50 EUR and includes public transportation within the city of Vienna. The service runs in half an hour intervals between 04:19 and 01:19 - last train leaving the airport (status 08/2026). 

ÖBB railjet

Another means of transportation is ÖBB railjet. It leaves Vienna Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) starting from 05:42 until 22:42, every half an hour. When commuting from Vienna airport the daily operations hours are from 06:33 until 00:02. The price of a single ticket is 5,50 EUR (status 08/2026).

Vienna Airport Lines

The Vienna Airport Lines offer three connections between the airport and Vienna city centre. If you wish to pay a visit to the Secretariat, you should opt for the connection to and from Morzinplatz. The ride between Morzinplatz and the airport takes about 20 minutes and it runs from 03:30 to 23:30 and from 04:15 to 00:15 from airport towards city center.  The bus operates half-hourly during the main operating period and hourly later in the evening after 21:30. The price of a one way ticket amounts to 11 EUR and for return 20 EUR (status 08/2026).

Out of environmental considerations (refer to EMAS), the Secretariat discourages its participants to opt for a taxi. Should you be eligible for reimbursement of your travel cost, the Secretariat reimburses taxi bills only in the absence of public transport options. 

A taxi rank can be found directly outside the airport. Inside the arrival hall there are taxi companies with fixed rate charges. With some companies you can book your transfer on-line prior to your arrival. The fixed rate charge to the city centre levels on average EUR 38–44.

If you take a taxi at the airport without making a prior booking, the charge from the airport to the city centre of Vienna varies from EUR 45 to 55. Please, be aware that not all taxies accept credit cards. (status 08/2026)
