Women in Energy Photo Contest: Milena Anđelić

Title: Assembly of Equipment

The Photographer Behind the Image

  • Inspiration and background:

What inspired me to pursue a career in the energy sector was the opportunity to work in a field that is constantly evolving. I see the energy sector as an area where new technologies can be introduced and existing ways of working can be improved, with the aim of achieving better, safer and more efficient results. I was also attracted to the role of Transmission Line Maintenance Engineer because it combines technical knowledge with practical fieldwork. Since field-based technical jobs are still sometimes seen as less typical for women, this actually gave me additional motivation to take on the challenge. I wanted to prove to myself that I could succeed in a demanding technical role and contribute equally in both the field and the engineering aspects of the job.

The greatest challenge for everyone in the energy sector, not just women, is keeping pace with the increasingly frequent changes taking place at the global level. Situations that require quick decision-making, often involving a great deal of responsibility, are becoming more and more common. For women, this is an additional challenge, as alongside carrying out their professional duties conscientiously and responsibly, they also have family obligations.

  • Short biography:

I am a Transmission Line Maintenance Engineer at Crnogorski elektroprenosni sistem AD (CGES), where I have been working since January 2021. Originally from Žabljak, Montenegro, I graduated from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at the University of Montenegro in September 2021, specialising in Electrical Power Systems. I completed my secondary education at “17. Septembar” Junior High School in my hometown.

I am fluent in English and Russian and am recognised for my strong team spirit, organisational abilities and effective communication skills, which I bring to my role in maintaining and supporting Montenegro’s transmission network.

“What we, as women, must do for ourselves is to never allow anything to disturb our inner peace or undermine our self-confidence. Because, in the end, when we look back at everything we have accomplished, what matters most is whether we are truly satisfied with what we see.”
