Slovenia joins the Ukraine Energy Support Fund with EUR 500,000 contribution
New contribution expands donor community and supports accelerated recovery and preparedness efforts
Slovenia has joined the Ukraine Energy Support Fund with a contribution of EUR 500,000, bringing the total number of donors to 37. The agreement was signed on the fourth anniversary of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, highlighting continued international backing for efforts to safeguard the country’s energy system. The expansion of the Fund’s donor community has been critical in helping Ukrainian energy companies keep essential services running through one of the most difficult winters since the start of the war — marked by Russia's escalating war of aggression against Ukraine and prolonged periods of dangerously low temperatures.
“Slovenia’s support sends a powerful signal that the international community is standing firm. Five years into the full-scale invasion, the growing donor community of the Ukraine Energy Support Fund shows that solidarity continues to grow stronger,” said Artur Lorkowski, Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, which administers the Fund. "This is the response we need to safeguard Ukraine's place in a European energy future."
The new contribution will support ongoing efforts to restore damage caused during the winter heating season while helping Ukraine fortify itself for the next winter period – preparations for which have already begun. The Energy Community Secretariat continues to work closely with the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine to accelerate recovery and strengthen preparedness through a coordinated approach.
Since its launch in spring 2022, the Ukraine Energy Support Fund has concluded more than 1,000 supply contracts worth approximately EUR 850 million. To date, over EUR 618 million in essential energy equipment, services, and passive protection measures have been delivered to eligible Ukrainian energy companies. Since mid-November 2025 alone, more than EUR 582 million has been signed to reinforce the resilience of Ukraine’s energy system.
