Sweden ups its lifetime contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund to 259,467,889 Euros
Sweden reinforces long-term backing for Ukraine’s energy system, with new Fund contribution of approximately EUR 56 million
Sweden has signed and transferred a new contribution of SEK 600,000,000 — approximately EUR 56.38 million — to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, raising its total support to EUR 259,467,889. Channelled through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, the repeat contribution highlights sustained donor confidence in the Fund’s capacity to protect, repair and reinforce Ukraine’s energy infrastructure as the full-scale war enters its fifth year.
"Repeat contributions from committed partners like Sweden demonstrate that the international community sees tangible impact and trusts this mechanism to translate resources into real energy resilience," said Artur Lorkowski, Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, which administers the Fund.
Since November 2025 alone, the Fund has mobilised more than EUR 582 million in signed contributions — a critical boost as Ukraine’s energy sector continues to face a dual challenge. First, the ongoing strain of repeated attacks on energy infrastructure requires sustained rapid-response support to guarantee heating, light and other critical services to millions of Ukrainians. At the same time, preparations for the next winter season are already underway, with early delivery of repair equipment recognised as decisive to ensuring Ukraine’s readiness before temperatures drop again.
The new contribution is broadly earmarked, allowing resources to be directed where prioritised by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine needs are most urgent. Funding will support repair works, procurement of critical equipment, and passive protection measures designed to safeguard energy infrastructure against further damage. Since its launch in spring 2022, the Fund has concluded more than 1,000 supply contracts worth approximately EUR 850 million, with over EUR 618 million in equipment, services, and protection measures already delivered to over 60 eligible Ukrainian energy companies.
