Director Lorkowski visits power plant supported through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund
Today, Artur Lorkowski, Director of the Energy Community Secretariat, visited a DTEK power plant severely damaged by Russian attacks. The aim of the visit was to assess the deployment of critical equipment delivered through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund and to evaluate its contribution to the facility's recovery efforts.
A total of 112 contracts worth EUR 26.1 million have been signed under the Fund to support this site. Of these, 52 contracts have already enabled the procurement and delivery of essential equipment. This support is funded through the EU’s contribution to the Fund, which totals EUR 159 million.
"Today’s visit underlines the Fund’s high standards for transparency, accountability, and the responsible use of donor contributions, while standing in solidarity with those risking their lives to keep Ukraine powered," Director Lorkowski stated during the meeting with company’s management.
In 2024, DTEK Energy's Thermal Power Plants endured 10 major attacks, resulting in the destruction or damage of 90% of DTEK’s generating capacity by mid-summer. Thanks to coordinated efforts on the ground, the timely prioritisation of recovery efforts by the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, and donors support mobilised under the Fund, part of the lost capacity was restored and repair works are ongoing, even as attacks continue.
