The Energy Community Secretariat welcomes the first corporate purchase of Guarantees of Origin in Ukraine  

The Energy Community Secretariat welcomes the first known sale of Guarantees of Origin (GOs) to a corporate buyer in Ukraine, marking a significant development for the country's renewable energy market.

The Knauf Group, a German company with a production facility in Ukraine “KNAUF GIPS KYIV” has acquired GOs for local disclosure as part of its global sustainability initiatives. The electricity supplier that supported this transaction is D.TRADING.

Although a small step, this represents a significant milestone in the development of the GOs market in Ukraine. By utilising the national electronic registry which adheres to the Energy Community Standard, Knauf Group has displayed strong confidence in the system's reliability and transparency.

This effort could serve as a valuable model for nurturing local demand for GOs, ultimately paving the way for a more dynamic regional market prior to full integration with the EU system.

Expanding such transactions across the Energy Community Contracting Parties would not only strengthen market credibility but also contribute to broader renewable energy objectives.
