Ukraine committed to development of energy efficiency and energy savings policies

Representatives of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving and the Ministry for Regional Development, Building and Housing of Ukraine and other stakeholders joined the kick-off meeting organized within the EU4Energy Governance project on calculation of the national energy efficiency target until 2020 and 2030 for Ukraine and preparation of the 1st report to the Energy Community according to Directive 2012/27/EU.

The meeting focused on the calculation methodology of the indicative national energy efficiency target until 2020 and 2030. A report on the progress achieved towards the national energy efficiency target will be produced in close cooperation with the relevant stakeholders and the working group created for this specific purpose. The final draft report, including the draft government decree for setting the target on the state level, will be developed by November 2017.

Ukraine has accelerated the development of the energy efficiency regulatory framework with the adoption of the Law on Energy Performance of Building and the Law on Commercial Metering of Heat and Water Supply on 23 June 2017.

This project is part of the EU4Energy Initiative which covers all EU support for evidence-based energy policy-making and energy efficiency in the region of the Eastern Partnership, which brings together the EU, its member states and six partner countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
