Statement of Director Lorkowski on the European Council’s decision regarding EU membership applications of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia

I sincerely welcome yesterday’s decision of the European Council to grant EU candidate status to Ukraine and Moldova and set forth a clear EU perspective for Georgia. A critical moment in history, this is also a ground-breaking step towards strengthening energy cooperation on the European continent and a more resilient Energy Community. The Secretariat will expand and amplify its efforts to support the countries in modernizing and greening their energy sectors and get ready for the future.
