Initiative for Coal Regions in Transition in the Western Balkans and Ukraine

The Energy Community Secretariat took part in the two-day Annual Meeting of the Initiative for Coal Regions in Transition in the Western Balkans and Ukraine managed by the European Commission in cooperation with the Energy Community, the World Bank, EBRD, EIB, Poland’s National Fund for Environment Protection and Water Management and the College of Europe in Natolin. The initiative strives to prepare the Contracting Parties for decarbonisation and a just, clean transition towards sustainable energy sources. The Secretariat led the discussions on the main energy and environmental challenges on the road towards coal phase-out.

The Secretariat invites all stakeholders to take part in the inaugural Energy Community Just Transition Forum on 30 June. Building on the previous success of the Sustainability Forum, the conference will focus on issues that matter most for ensuring that the transition in the Energy Community Contracting Parties is just and inclusive.
