Today, the Secretariat published a study on fostering the use of renewable energy sources in the transport sector in the Energy Community Contracting Parties. The study, conducted by a consulting consortium made up of experts from LBST & E4tech & S.E.E.C., assessed the current legal set-up and fuel usage in the transport sectors. Based on the results, the study delivers national roadmaps on how to reach future 2030 targets after the new Renewable Energy Directive is adopted in the Energy Community in a year from now.

The uptake of renewable energy sources in the transport sector is currently very low in the Contracting Parties and all are far from reaching the mandatory target of 10% by 2020. The Secretariat launched this study to help informed decision-making on new policy frameworks towards 2030 and beyond.
