On 7 May, Energy Community Secretariat experts and representatives of the National Energy Regulatory Agency of Moldova (ANRE) met to discuss the transposition of the Third Energy Package electricity and gas network codes into the national legal framework of Moldova. The technical assistance, consisting of drafting the necessary secondary legal acts, is provided under the framework of the EU4Energy project.
The network codes and guidelines were adopted by the Energy Community Contracting Parties back in January 2018. Experts of the Energy Community Secretariat will support the regulatory agency in developing the five legal acts, which are yet to be transposed into corresponding regulatory acts by the ANRE. The technical assistance will facilitate the transformation of Moldova’s electricity and gas markets and create conditions for their future integration into the EU energy market.
* The EU4Energy Initiative covers all EU support to improve energy supply, security and connectivity, as well as to promote energy efficiency and the use of renewables in the Eastern Partner countries Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. It does this by financing projects and programmes that help to reform energy markets and to reduce national energy dependence and consumption. Over the longer term, this makes energy supply more reliable, transparent and affordable, thus reducing energy poverty and energy bills for both citizens and the private sector.
