Embedding the Energy Community into a solid institutional setting with clear decision-making and support structures was of imperative from the outset. This is the precondition for ensuring that all stakeholders are fully involved in and committed to the work of the Energy Community.
The activities of the Energy Community are administered by the Secretariat located in Vienna. Its tasks range from the review of Treaty implementation process to the responsibility to ensure the Energy Community’s budget – to which all Parties to the Treaty contribute – is spent correctly in accordance with the Work Program of the Energy Community. As of spring 2008, the Secretariat employs 16 staff members originating from nine different European states.
