GENERALLY APPLICABLE STANDARDS

In addition to the implementation of acquis in gas, Chapter VI of Title II  stipulates the establishment of unique Energy Community generally applicable standards for the market in electricity. Such standards shall be applicable for the entire Energy Community and serve the purpose of guaranteeing safe and efficient network systems operations.

In compliance with its Treaty obligations, the Secretariat tabled a proposal on a list of Generally Applicable Standards in the area of electricity in May 2007. The Ministerial Council adopted the list in June 2007. Pursuant to the Treaty, the Contracting Parties are to draw a development plan within one year after the adoption of the list. In order to facilitate the process, the Secretariat presented a development plan proposal at the March 2008 PHLG meeting.
